Alabama Hunting and Fishing
Licenses
A Hunting/Fishing
License is required for residents 16 years of age and older, but
under 65 years. An Alabama resident 65 years of age and over are
exempt from buying hunting/fishing licenses providing that said
resident has his Alabama driver’s license or proof of permanent
Alabama residence and age. Any one born on or after August 1, 1977
must have a Hunter Education identification number. State law
requires that you first ask to see the applicant’s driver license.

Residency
Requirements
Non-Driver
Identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety is not
acceptable proof of residence.
Alabama law
requires a person to reside in Alabama a minimum of 90 days
continuously immediately prior to making application for a license
Applicants over 16
years of age without a driver license who desire to purchase an
Alabama resident Fishing License must submit at least two of the
documents listed below to prove Alabama residence. In no instance
will a resident of another state be issued an Alabama resident
license even if the person is able to produce these items.
1.
Military personnel with an out-of-state driver license must have
copy of order of
assignment to Alabama or military paperwork showing Alabama as
current home of residency (HOR)
2.
Copy of previous year tax return (mailing address only)
3.
Voter registration card
4.
Certificate of employment, if containing proof of permanent
residency
5.
Copy of home property tax
6.
Health insurance forms with address (Medicare) etc.
7.
The last three months of a utility bill with mailing address
8.
Student ID plus copy of residency agreement, or any other proof of
residency listed
9.
Copy of school registration for non-driver students (Required)
10.
Other legal documents that may establish residency after approval by
the Conservation Department
